The Post-American World
by Fareed Zakaria made great beach reading for my trip to Myrtle Beach South Carolina. OK so it wasn’t a light hearted novel, but I enjoy books about geopolitical economics and international trends. Yes our world is becoming more and more connected. What happens in China and India affects life here…..just look at the demand for energy resources. What was most surprising to me was the change in China. It’s no longer the China that Nixon Visited. I really enjoyed his theory that it’s not about the fall of America as much as it is about the “rise of the rest.” A really great read. This is my first introduction to Fareed Zakaira. His analysis of the inter-realtions of culture, politics and economy is very thoughtful and makes sense. Check out The Post-American World at Amazon.com and check out Fareed’s show GPS on CNN.
